Skippered Catamaran Cruise in the Caribbean
Skippered Catamaran Cruise in the Caribbean
New Year’s Eve 2025/6 party on Bequia!
Sailing-Dutchman invites you to join us for a special New Year’s Eve cruise aboard a private catamaran with a skipper, sailing from Martinique to the Grenadines.
A steady northeast wind will carry us from Martinique, known for its charming French vibe, towards St. Lucia, St. Vincent, and the beautiful Tobago Cays — a group of five small, uninhabited islands famous for their legendary lobster beach barbecues.
We’ll celebrate New Year’s Eve on Bequia, one of our favorite islands, full of authentic Caribbean vibe. The evening starts with a visit to the iconic Rendezvous bar, a beloved hangout for locals and visitors alike. After that, we’ll enjoy dinner at a restaurant run by a good friend of ours, followed by a private New Year’s party just for friends. When midnight comes, fireworks will light up the whole island, and we’ll welcome the New Year with great vibes and good company! 🙂
Highlights
Itinerary
Day 1: Boarding Akua Aminata
Between 5 – 6 pm, we will welcome everyone on board the Akua Aminata with a refreshing cocktail on the AKUA AMINATA board. The skipper will introduce the sailing itinerary, safety rules, and the living arrangements on the catamaran. After that, we’ll head to the store to grab food and drinks for the next few days, and then we’ll all go out together for dinner at the iconic Kokoa Rum bar.
Day 2: Martinique > St. Lucia
After breakfast, the skipper will brief us on the day’s itinerary, and after enjoying our morning coffee, we’ll head out for some last-minute fresh shopping. Once everyone is ready, we will set sail on the first leg of our journey from Martinique (Le Marin) towards St. Lucia. After four to five hours, we will anchor at Rodney Bay. It’s time for a well-deserved “anchor” beer or cocktail.
Day 3: St. Lucia: Rodney Bay > Soufriere
For those who want to explore St. Lucia, there’s an optional tour during which you will visit Diamond Botanical Gardens, where the beauty and lush greenery of the tropics provide a backdrop to the Diamond Waterfall and then Sulphur Springs, the hottest and most active geothermal area in the Lesser Antilles, where you can enjoy a mud bath followed by refreshing dip in Pitons Falls
Day 4: St. Lucia > St. Vincent
Today, we have the longest sailing leg ahead of us. We will arrive at St. Vincent, the largest island in the country of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Our destination is Wallilabou Bay, which will welcome us with props from the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies, as scenes for “The Curse of the Black Pearl” and “Dead Man’s Chest” were filmed here.
Day 5: St. St. Vincent > Bequia
For those who want to experience a bit of the St. Vincent vibe, after breakfast, there is an opportunity for a short excursion to Dark View Falls, black waterfalls where water cascades down basalt rocks from a high cliff.
During lunchtime, we will set sail from St. Vincent towards Bequia, known as the “Big Little Island,” the second largest island in the Grenadines with an area of 18 km2. This is where we’ll welcome the New Year! 🙂 First, we’ll head to Rendezvous — the iconic bar where locals and tourists mingle, and the vibe is always incredible. Then, we’ll have dinner at a restaurant run by our friend, who personally prepares every dish. After dinner, the restaurant will close its doors to outside guests, and the New Year’s party will begin — just for local friends and us. At midnight, we’ll step outside for the fireworks show and ring in the New Year in great spirits!
Day 6: Bequia > Mayreau
After a morning stroll along the seaside promenade, we’ll sail to Mayreau — the smallest island in the Grenadines, covering just 3.8 km² and home to around 300 people. We’ll anchor our catamaran in the beautiful Salt Whistle Bay — a naturally sheltered bay with golden sands and stunning turquoise waters.
In the afternoon, it’s worth taking a walk up the hill to see the stone Catholic church built in 1921 and enjoy breathtaking views of the Tobago Cays. In the evening, Donna will prepare a true Caribbean feast for us on the beach. So far, no one has ever been anything less than amazed by both the vibe of the place and the food!
Day 7: Mayreau > Tobago Cays
Today, there’s no rush at all. We can fully enjoy swimming in Salt Whistle Bay, and then we’ll sail toward the Tobago Cays, which are basically just around the corner — only about a 30-minute sail away.
The Tobago Cays are a group of five tiny, uninhabited islands known as the “crown jewels” of the southern Grenadines, thanks to their stunning golden beaches and vibrant coral reefs. We’ll anchor within the Tobago Cays Marine Park, a nature reserve surrounded by a double horseshoe-shaped coral reef, making the waters calm and shallow — perfect for snorkeling and admiring the coral and turtles.
The highlight of this amazing day is an evening beach barbecue featuring a must-try local delicacy — lobster.
Day 8: Tobago Cays > Bequia
We’re heading back to Bequia to soak up its unforgettable Caribbean vibe one more time. We’ll have plenty of time to explore. It’s worth taking a ride in the local transport — a kind of windowless taxi — to tour the island, visit the ruins of Fort Hamilton, and enjoy stunning views of Admiral Bay from the hilltop.
Day 9: Bequia > St Vincent
We’re sailing to St. Vincent, but this time we’ll anchor in Chateaubelair Bay. It’s a very picturesque spot, with views of beautiful rows of palm trees and untouched coastline.
Day 10: St Vincent > St Lucia
Returning to St. Lucia, we’ll stop at the legendary Marigot Bay — one of the most beautiful bays in the Caribbean, postcard-perfect and the most sheltered bay in the region. It’s here that scenes from “Doctor Dolittle” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” were filmed.
Day 11: St Lucia > Martinique
The last day of sailing in paradise is ahead of us. If the wind allows, we’ll stop at Saint-Anne for one last swim on one of Martinique’s most beautiful beaches. After arriving at Le Marin marina, we will have a farewell dinner.
Day 12: Getting off the catamaran
Getting off the catamaran is around 10am so you will have plenty of time to leisurely return to Fort-de-France and catch your flight back home.
