Our Catamaran

AKUA AMINATA – 44 ft catamaran, combining great sailing experience with comfort. 

Itinerary: from Martinique

Day 1: Embarkation at Akua Aminata

We will welcome you with a refreshing cocktail at 5 – 6 pm on board of Akua Aminata. The skipper will  introduce the sailing itinerary, safety rules, and the living arrangements on the catamaran. Then we will do some shopping for the next few days and go together to Kokoa Rum bar for dinner.

Day 2: Martinique: Le Marin > St Pierre

For those who want to explore Martinique, there is an optional tour, during which we will visit the Jardin de Balata Botanical Garden and the Habitation Clement rum distillery, surrounded by beautiful gardens and sculpture park which was established in 1774.

Those who prefer to stay on the catamaran, will have the opportunity to admire the coast of Martinique during the sailing from Le Marin to St Pierre.

Day 3: Martinique > Dominica

Today we sail to Dominica, known as the “quintessence of the Caribbean.  This is the longest sailing stretch, so it will be busy day for the captain but very relaxing for you:)

Day 4: Dominica

It is time to relax after a long sailing day and start visiting hidden gem of the Caribbean – Dominica. How about a rowboat trip on the Indian River, admiring the witch house from “Pirates of the Caribbean” II, and then a game of dominoes at a local bar in the middle of the jungle?

Day 5: Dominica

There are never enogh days to admire unspoilt Dominica, so let’s take another trip. Today we will admire breathtaking view of the Red Rocks overlooking emerald water of Atlantic Ocean, we will visit a very local chocolate factory and swim in beautiful bay. We will also stop for lunch with local cuisine and taste Rum Punch, which is the best in the entire Caribbean.

Day 6: Dominica > Les Saintes

Today our destination is Les Saintes, a small archipelago consisting of pristine islands, of which only two are inhabited – Terre de Haut and Terre de Bas. Our destination is Terre de Haut, which will enchant us with Saintes Bay, listed on the UNESCO World’s Most Beautiful Bays. We will also enjoy a nice walk around one of the prettiest port  town in the Caribbean.

Day 7: Les Saintes > Guadeloupe (Jean Cousteau Underwater Reserve)

After breakfast, we will head towards Guadeloupe, shaped like a butterfly. One wing, Basse-Terre, called by by the ancient Caribbean tribe Karukera “The island of beautiful water” is mountainous and volcanic, rich with forests, rivers and waterfalls. The other wing – Grande-Terre – often called the little Brittany of the Antilles because of its abrupt cliffs that resemble those of the Breton peninsula.

Our first destination at Guadeloupe is Pigeon Island and Jacques Cousteau Underwater Nature Reserve where we will go snorkelling in the coral reefs and admire underwater world.

Day 8: Guadeloupe - Jean Cousteau Underwater Reserve

This is a lazy day, which we will spend snorkelling in the coral reefs and admire Jacques Cousteau Underwater Nature Reserve.

Day 9: Guadeloupe: Pigeon Island > Deshaies

It is a short sailing day, so we will have time to explore Basse-Terre, volcanic, rich of forests, rivers and waterfalls part of Guadeloupe there is an optional tour, during which we will visit w World Biorsphere Reseve – Guadeloupe National Park, Jardin Botanique de Deshaies and take a Route de la Traverse which will take us from sugar can fields to dense jungle.

Day 10 - Guadeloupe: Deshaies > Rivere de Sans

Our sailing destination is Rivière-Sens which could be considered the cradle of colonization of southern Basse Terre. The first colonists settled here, where the stream empties into the sea, during the time when the seat of government was being established in Guadeloupe.

Day 11: Guadeloupe: Rivere de Sens > Bas du Fort

Time to sail to our destination port – Marina Bas du Fort, a very nice marina with good infrustructure an nice restaurants.

Day 12: Disembarkation

Disembarkation from the catamaran is around 10am so you will have plenty of time to go to the airport and catch your flight back home.

Food and Drinks on board

We will get groceries for breakfast and lunch trying to take individual wishes and preferences into account as much as possible. Meals on board are prepared by the guests.
If desired, guests can cook on board in the evening, but experience has shown that usually guests want to enjoy dinner ashore in one of the cozy restaurant or tavern.
